Enhanced Uselessness

A rant about a certain type of fitness influencer

2025-05-30

Here’s a fitness hot take:

People who are, either admittedly or obviously, on anabolic steroids have nothing useful to say in terms of training advice outside of the context of competitive enhanced bodybuilding which doesn’t apply for the vast majority of people who are interested in learning about fitness.

The advantages that enhanced lifters have over natural ones are so huge that they could basically do whatever in the gym as long as it hits every muscle group at a reasonable intensity, and they would still gain more strength and muscle mass than any natural lifter.

For anyone who wants to stay natural, or has to due to competition regulations, any advice on exercise selection, programming, or technique is basically useless apart from a few universal basics.

Yet I see these videos in my YouTube recommendations where these people will complain and nag about what non-enhanced people do in their training, even people who have impressive progress to show for. It’s like if someone on a motorcycle lectured me on how to pedal my bicycle more efficiently.

I don’t mind that they’re enhancing, they can do with their bodies whatever they want. But it doesn’t give them any level of authority just because they got more jacked by doing it. Yet they act like it does.

Rant over. Thanks for reading.
